The most common game type

There are a few variations of game play that are possible. CTF (Capture the Flag), DM (Death Match), race cores and Conquest to name a few. Conquest is the most commonly played (99%) and what we will talk about for the rest of the course.

Conquest

Just like it the name implies, conquest is about destroying your opponent's Tech bases. Each team will always start with a garrison base. Then the commander can expand with other tech bases. (We cover the different types later) In a single two team game the first team to destroy all of the other's major bases wins.

What is needed?

You will hear this common statement; "Advanced tech wins games". In simple terms it is an arms race in Allegiance. The team with the better tech should win the game. Of course tactics and teamwork play an important role!

How do we get that tech?

The commander decides what tech, when, etc. But he relies upon his team to accomplish it in two ways.

The first is running a good economy on his part. That involves the team protecting their miners at all costs.

The second part is in reverse. Crippling the opponent's economy. Destroy or delay his mining operations. Early game has a large influence on this. By grabbing most of the map you can limit his mining sectors. We cover this in more detail further on.

That is the key to the whole game. Once you have the tech it is just a matter of a TEAM effort to kill/capture his major bases.
