Cadet I Mission Statement

To provide a single source written for a brand new player covering: Installation, community, game basics, "game manual", how a game is played/won, and starting roles so you can contribute to the team.

The Concept

The concept of a publicly viewable replacement for the old "crash course" was initially discussed in early 2006. With the plans of revamping Cadet into two seperate programs and a lack of a good solid single source for a new player to consult, this concept was given the green light.

The Content

There were mighty debates for several months on content, style to teach it, and what material to be used. Since Allegiance is so complex, we had to make some tough choices. The group working on this had come to a stalemate and I had to make an "executive decision".

We ended up putting some material in here that we were hesitant on. "Signature" is a prime example. To explain some tasks or functions without a brief understanding of it is almost impossible. We have tried to provide a flow of material to match the game. Game phases are explained and content placed accordingly the best we can. Keeping in mind we purposely held back most intermediate and all advanced concepts. Cadet II and the intermediate material on the Academy will serve that area.

The end result

What you see here is the result of a large number of compromises. We had to start out with a lot of boring material concerning installation, community, etc. The decision was to give a player a good STARTING point to get in game and be able to be productive to his team. We defined "game" as a pickup game, not squad matches.

This material is geared to a scout pilot (though we do touch upon Fighters and Interceptors). The scout is the most important ship in the game and with a basic understanding of it you can fulfill several roles and be an IMMEDIATE help to your team. That was our goal. We think we achieved it.
