killing miners w/ scout and prox (through aleph)

this is my personal loadout: gat,2 probes, 1 prox, rest dfs.

being able to prox miners as they go through alephs requires that exact timing on when to drop prox. in most games, you wont find enough teamwork for someone to tell you when to drop so you have to do BOTH jobs yourself.

thus, stealth is key. i take 2 probes with me so that i can help my team probe as i cross sectors and also because it frees up 2 slots so that i can unload my missiles and shield. you need to stay hidden because if you go into a sector and the miner spots you, it'll try to run away (if its alone). if this happens, you'll have a hard time chasing it down to prox, instead you should just fly the opposite direction and get uneyed so you can wait until the miner forgets about you and starts mining again.

once you're hidden in the sector with the miner, look at which aleph the miner is likely to go to next. also make a note of which alephs you can camp at uneyed (very important). once you have found such an aleph, fly towards it (stay uneyed) and camp BEHIND the aleph. sit as close as the aleph as possible w/o going in and just face the aleph so you can still see the miner that is in the sector. now you just press f3 and wait.

when you see a miner that is coming towards you, switch back to cockpit view and target the miner. now is the most important part of the job: going through the aleph before the miner can spot you. i usually go through when the miner is about 3k away or so. once i go through, i turn around, face the aleph, line up squarely, 200m from it (while backthrusting) and drop my prox around 6-7 seconds after i have managed to position myself in front of the aleph perfectly. also, you might as well load missiles and shields at this point.

when the miner hits your prox at full speed, it will lose all its shields and some hull. start shooting gat at it and position yourself behind the miner. once you are behind, start launching dfs. when you're 300-400 m behind the miner, hit your button to match speed and just fire at will. if you find yourself too close to the miner or if you see defense coming up behind you, go full speed and ram the miner (this is why you bring your shield). ramming the miner will 1. hurt the miner, 2. send the miner further away from the defenders, and 3. it makes some room between you and the miner so that you can land your dfs on the miner. (if you shoot too close, your dfs will sometimes miss).
